Fiesta Frock page 188 of the book – finished weight 65 grams – collar to skirt bottom 9 inches, bodice circumference 18 inches, sleeve circumference 3.5 inches, skirt circumference 35 inches
This project is gave birth to this blog. I’ve been interested in knitting baby things lately and spotted this pattern. As I thumbed through the book, I found my self thinking that I wanted to knit all the patterns! Fiesta Frock is an adorable little dress for a newborn.
This is my baby modeling the dress. This baby was recently delivered (by UPS) and I was at a loss of what to name it, and quite frankly I couldn‘t tell if it was a boy or girl baby. Since it will be modeling knits suited for both sexes, I will refer to it as Fannie Mae when sporting dresses, and Freddie Mac when it’s wearing manly items (shout out to the husband who came up with these creative names).
It was a quick knit (two days) and although I balked at the cast on of 204 stitches, the result was a delicate, full little skirt. I can just image Fannie Mae twirling around in it!
I think I chose a good yarn for this pattern - choosing the right yarn for a pattern is something I struggle with – as you shall see in future projects. Sometimes the yarns I choose drown out the beautiful patterns that the designers work so hard to create. Maybe by the time I’m done with this venture I will be a little better at choosing the right yarn!

Note: if you follow the Fiesta Frock link, it will take you to my Ravelry page where you can get all the details on this pattern.

That is an adorable dress and if I hadn’t just finished the only baby girl project I’ll need for awhile, I’d go get the book just for that!
Welcome Joan! I really like how it turned out. There are so many good patterns in this book…..that’s probably what led to my plan to knit them all!

Very cute!
Thanks Dorothy, and I’m glad you found us! Welcome!
Wow, you’re fast – and what a pretty dress!
I see what you mean about choosing the right yarn for a pattern – but I think you did a good job here. What yarn is this, anyway?
Thanks machine.lady. It’s an Opal brand….but unfortunately I lost the ball band long ago……so I can’t get more specific. Nice yarn though!
